My iPhone won't connect to wifi?

It has worked fine for almost a year but in the last few days my phone started to have problems. My signal strength is very weak and more than five feet away it starts to fade out. It fluctuates from one bar to three and sometimes with full signal says unable to connect to network. Occasionally it will get good signal and work for me but it always randomly drops out. How do I make it connect well again?
